Chansik Park

Chansik Park is a professor at the School of Architecture and Building Science of Chung-Ang University (CAU) in Korea, where he has been since 1995. He holds a B.E and a M.E. in Architecture from CAU, M.S. from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida with the major of Construction Management. His Construction Technology Innovation Laboratory (CONTIL) at CAU has performed various research works under the theme of ‘Innovation in Construction’, such as Construction Failure Study, Value Engineering, Visualized Construction Safety and Quality Management and Building Anatomy Modeling. He has held over twenty research projects, and his current research focuses on the development of a “Social Network Platform for Construction Safety”, through innovative application of linked data and BIM technologies. He was one of the founders and former president for the KICEM (Korea Institute of Construction Engineering and Management), and Vice President of Building Smart Korea. Professor Park is an author of over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and an editorial board member of Springer’s Visualization in Engineering Journal and Journal of Civil Engineering and Management. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious Elsevier Atlas Award in recognition of “outstanding achievement and significant positive contribution to society”.
